Movers from Al Asalah to Al Shati, Jeddah: Planned Around Towers, Compounds and the Corniche

Moving from Al Asalah in north Jeddah to Al Shati on the North Corniche is a short trip on the map but a very different arrival: towers with service lifts, gated compounds and seafront villas. We plan the day backwards from your new building's rules, then dismantle, load, move and reassemble under a written contract.

Seafront towers and villas along the North Corniche in Al Shati, Jeddah, the destination for a move from Al Asalah

Two very different ends of the same move

Al Asalah is one of the newer districts of north Jeddah, near King Abdullah Sports City and the Al Jawhara stadium. Much of it is recently built apartment blocks, with plots still under construction around them. Al Shati, by contrast, is an established upscale district on the North Corniche, with sea-view towers, large villas and gated residential compounds.

That contrast drives the whole plan. Leaving Al Asalah usually means a new building with a standard lift and open street parking. Arriving in Al Shati can mean a management office, fixed loading hours, a service lift that must be booked, and a security gate that wants names and plate numbers in advance.

The route and how we handle traffic

The drive takes you from the inland part of north Jeddah toward the western coastline. It is an in-city trip, with no overnight stop or long-distance preparation. We will not promise a fixed drive time, because Jeddah traffic shifts a lot between morning, late afternoon and weekends, but we time departure to avoid sitting at a gate or lift queue.

On the day we pick the route based on actual traffic, preferring wide main roads to narrow side streets because a loaded dyna needs room to turn and stop. If parking at either end worries you, our guide to parking moving trucks on busy Jeddah streets covers what to arrange ahead.

Permits for Al Shati towers and compounds

Many towers and compounds in Al Shati will not let a moving truck in without prior approval. Some management offices want a written request from the resident, some set specific loading windows, and some ask for copies of crew IDs or the truck's plate number. Every building is different, and the rules can change.

We ask you to contact your new building's management early and find out what they need, then we supply the crew and vehicle details. The full process is explained in our guide to building management permits in Jeddah compounds.

Service lifts and protecting shared areas

Al Shati towers usually have passenger lifts and a separate service lift, and management expects furniture to go in the service lift with its walls padded. We bring lift covers and blankets, plus floor protection for marble lobbies so trolleys do not leave marks.

Measure the service lift before moving day, especially if you have a long sofa or a wardrobe that does not come apart easily. If a piece is too big, we agree the solution in advance, whether that is disassembly, the stairs or another option, instead of finding out at the lift door.

Leaving Al Asalah: new buildings, unfinished streets

Because Al Asalah is still growing, your building may sit next to an empty plot or an active construction site, and some inner streets may not be fully finished. That affects where the truck can stand and how far the crew has to carry furniture between the entrance and the vehicle.

Send us a map pin and a photo of the entrance and street so we can choose the closest safe spot. If the building has no canopy or clear walkway yet, we lay down a temporary blanket path to protect pieces from scraping.

Dismantling bedrooms first

Bedrooms take the longest in any move, with beds, wardrobes and dressers that need careful dismantling. We start there in Al Asalah first thing in the morning so the rest of the day does not slip, and bag all screws and hinges with the name of the piece they came from.

A large or complex master bedroom can need extra time. You can see how we approach it on our bedroom disassembly and assembly page for Al Asalah.

Checklist before you move to Al Shati

These points prevent the classic delays at the gate or lift:

  • Get written confirmation of the date from your Al Shati tower or compound management.
  • Check allowed loading hours and whether Friday moves are permitted.
  • Measure the service lift, your new front door and the narrowest corridor.
  • Ask your Al Asalah building guard to reserve the lift for the morning.
  • Pack a personal bag with documents, medication and keys that stays with you.
  • Unplug and dry the fridge and washing machine at least a day ahead.
  • Sketch the new floor plan and mark where large pieces should go.
  • Confirm power and water are on in the new home so appliances can be tested.

The move at a glance

This diagram sums up the sequence from first message to the last piece assembled in Al Shati:

Stages: building approval, dismantle in Al Asalah, ordered loading, gate check-in, assembly in Al ShatiBuilding approvalDismantleOrdered loadingGate check-inAssembleAl Asalah (inland north Jeddah) to the North Corniche (Al Shati)

Notice that the first and last steps both happen on the Al Shati side. Whether the day runs smoothly depends far more on the new building than on the old one.

Loading in the order the tower needs

Unloading in a tower is limited by your lift booking, so the truck is not loaded at random. Pieces that need assembling first, such as beds and wardrobes, go in last so they come out first. Light boxes go near the cab and come off at the end.

That way the assembly crew starts on the bedrooms while others keep bringing up boxes. Nobody waits for anybody, and the service lift is released within the time management allowed.

If your new Al Shati home is a villa

Not everything in Al Shati is a tower. The district also has large villas, some of them inside compounds. Moving from an Al Asalah flat to a villa usually means more space, furniture spread across more rooms, and often new furniture arriving around the same time.

Here the challenge is the internal staircase and the distance from the gate to the front door rather than a lift. For big pieces inside the district, see our villa furniture moving service in Al Shati.

Settling your furniture into seafront air

Going from an inland district to the waterfront means your furniture will live in more humid air. We unwrap leather, mattresses and fabric right after unloading rather than leaving them sealed in plastic in the new flat for days.

It also helps to run the AC in the new home for a few hours before the truck arrives, especially if it has been closed up. Wooden pieces then enter a cool, dry room rather than a hot, humid one.

What affects the price of this move

We do not quote a flat rate for Al Asalah to Al Shati. The price depends on the volume and number of rooms, how many pieces need dismantling and assembly, the floors at both ends and whether lifts are suitable, and any time limits your Al Shati building sets.

The number of truck trips, a hoist for something that will not fit the lift, and extras such as curtains, chandeliers or AC units also count. Everything is listed in the contract before we start, so no unexpected items appear on the day.

Choosing the right day and time

Your new building's rules come first. Some towers ban moving during evening peaks or at weekends, while others prefer mornings. We set the booking so unloading falls inside the permitted window.

In summer we prefer early starts so loading in Al Asalah avoids the worst heat. Winter gives more flexibility. If your date is tied to a lease ending or a handover, let us know early so we can hold the right day.

Moving to Al Shati from other districts

We move families into Al Shati from many parts of Jeddah, and each starting point is different. Someone coming from a nearby coastal district faces different conditions from someone leaving Al Asalah, as you can see on our page for moving from Al Mohammadiyah to Al Shati.

Coming from Al Asalah, you are usually leaving a new building with a normal lift and open parking, which speeds up loading. Most of the effort sits on the Al Shati side: approvals, the service lift and polished lobby floors.

Two typical scenarios

Two-bedroom flat to an Al Shati tower

Usually one trip in a closed dyna. The main pressure is fitting inside the service lift booking, so we start early, and in most cases assembly finishes the same day.

Large flat or duplex to an Al Shati villa

This can need more than one trip or two trucks, ideally across a full day with a packing team and an assembly team, plus a plan for spreading furniture over more rooms than before.

Fragile pieces and when a hoist is needed

Moves to sea-view flats often come with big TVs and glass tables. Screens get a soft layer and rigid board, glass and marble tops travel upright with corner guards, and large mirrors are strapped away from heavy items. Chandeliers are taken down at the start and their parts numbered.

Some pieces will not fit any service lift. In a villa a hoist to a balcony may work, with compound approval and space for the vehicle. In high towers it is often not possible, so we identify those pieces early from your photos and agree alternatives in advance.

Mistakes that slow this move down

The most common is turning up at a tower or compound gate with no approval, leaving the truck waiting for hours. Next is not measuring the service lift and discovering in the lobby that a wardrobe will not fit.

Another is leaving prep at the new flat, such as cleaning or light fitting, to the same day, so several crews crowd the space. Ideally the new home is clean and ready the day before your furniture arrives.
