Apartment Movers in Al Salhiya, Jeddah: From Your Building to Your New Home

Moving out of a flat in Al Salhiya, north Jeddah? Al Ostoura Moving handles the whole job for apartment residents: a quick survey from your photos, dismantling beds and wardrobes, room-by-room packing, protecting the lift and corridors, loading a closed dyna truck and reassembling everything at the new place. Many of our Al Salhiya customers are expat families and professionals in newer buildings, so this page explains what to expect in plain English, from building rules to the written quote you receive before moving day.

What makes apartment moves in Al Salhiya different

Al Salhiya is one of the north Jeddah districts that is still being built out. A finished residential block can sit next to an empty plot or a building that has not been handed over yet. For a move, that means conditions change from one street to the next: some entrances are wide and paved, others sit beside scaffolding or construction vehicles that eat up the space where a truck would normally park.

That is why our first question is always practical: where exactly will the truck stop, and how far is it from your building door? If you are comparing movers in Jeddah in general, our service is the same city-wide, but this page focuses on flats in Al Salhiya specifically, including new towers, upper floors and rooftop annexes.

Common apartment types and how each changes the plan

Not every flat moves the same way. The table below summarises the housing types we see most often in the district and what each one means for crew size, equipment and time. There are no prices here, because every apartment is quoted after we see it.

Tell us about both your current and your new flat. The harder of the two usually decides the whole plan.

Getting the address right: numbered streets and map pins

Many internal streets in Al Salhiya are numbered rather than named, and new buildings often look alike. A verbal description such as "the beige building near the mosque" rarely gets a driver to the right door. Please send a map pin dropped on your actual building entrance, plus a photo of the facade if you can.

The district connects to the rest of the city through main roads such as Yasser bin Amer Al Kinani Road, Al Thalatheen Street and Al Forousiya Street, but we choose the actual route on the day based on traffic. If your new home is in another district, send that pin too so we can estimate driving time.

Lifts in modern buildings: booking and protection

The lift sets the pace of almost every apartment move. Before the date, ask your building guard (haris) or landlord a few questions: can the lift be used for furniture, during which hours, and can it be reserved for the move? Sorting this out early avoids an awkward standoff with neighbours on the morning of the move.

We line the lift walls and floor with moving blankets and heavy board and protect door frames along the corridor. Long items like three-seater sofas or full-length mirrors are measured against the lift depth and height. If they will not fit, we dismantle them or carry them down the stairs carefully.

Send your building map pin and room photos on WhatsApp to get started.

Ground-floor flats and rooftop annexes

Ground-floor flats look easy, but many buildings have steps at the entrance, a narrow steel gate or a small garden in front. We bring wheeled dollies and a board to protect the threshold, so heavy pieces are rolled rather than carried.

Rooftop annexes (mulhaq) are a different story. They are usually reached by one last narrow flight after the lift stops. Full dismantling of beds and wardrobes becomes essential, and each panel is wrapped and numbered separately so reassembly does not drag on at the other end.

When a crane makes sense for upper floors

If the stairwell is tight or the lift is small, and you own a piece that cannot be taken apart, such as a solid corner sofa or a large double-door fridge, lifting it out through the balcony with a furniture crane is often safer than twisting it down the stairs. We judge this from photos of the balcony and the street below.

A crane needs space to park under the flat, no cables or trees blocking the arm, and permission from building management. We will tell you upfront whether your flat suits a crane or whether extra dismantling is enough.

The WhatsApp photo survey: what to send

We do not always need to visit to give you a clear quote. Take two photos of each room from different corners, one of the kitchen with cupboards open, one inside the lift, and one of the building entrance and the street in front. Add the floor number of both the current and the new flat.

From these photos we can count items that need dismantling, estimate boxes, choose the truck size and see whether a crane is needed. If the flat is very full or has delicate pieces such as antiques or glass cabinets, we may suggest a short visit before writing the quote.

How moving day runs, step by step

The diagram below shows the order we follow on most Al Salhiya apartment moves, from the crew arriving to handing over the new flat fully set up.

Protect liftPack, dismantleLoad truckDriveAssemble, checkWritten contract signed before we start, final walk-through at the end

Stages overlap: while one team wraps the bedroom, another starts bringing finished boxes down. That saves time without cutting corners on protection.

Dismantling and reassembly inside the flat

Most apartment furniture today is made of particle board or MDF, which does not love being taken apart and put back together. We use the right hand and power tools, bag the screws and fittings of each piece separately and tape the bag to it, and photograph complex wardrobes before taking them apart.

At the new flat we place beds and wardrobes where you want them, adjust doors and drawers, and can anchor tall wardrobes to the wall on request, which is worth doing if you have young children.

Packing room by room

Each room gets materials suited to its contents: bubble wrap for glass and frames, double-wall cartons for plates, fabric covers for sofas and stretch film to keep wooden surfaces free of scratches and dust. Every box is labelled with the room it is going to, not the room it came from.

If you prefer to pack personal belongings yourself, we can drop off cartons before the date and handle only furniture and appliances. If your new building is still dusty from finishing works, we hold back delicate boxes until the rooms are clean.

Small lift in your building? Tell us so we can measure bulky items first.

Furnished vs unfurnished: what is actually yours to move?

Expat tenants often rent flats that came partly furnished, and it is easy to lose track of what belongs to you and what belongs to the landlord. Built-in kitchen cabinets, split AC units, curtain rails and sometimes even the fridge may be listed in your tenancy contract as the owner's property.

Walk through the flat with your contract a week before the move and make a simple list of your items. We move only what you confirm, so nothing gets dismantled by mistake. If you do own the AC units or the kitchen, we can take them down and refit them at the new address.

Getting your deposit back: hand-over tips

Wall marks from wardrobes, scratches on floors and screw holes from curtain rails are common reasons for disputes when handing a flat back. We protect floors and door frames during the move, but it also pays to photograph every room once it is empty, before the keys go back.

If you want us to remove wall-mounted items such as TV brackets or shelves, mention it in advance. We take them down carefully and leave the walls as clean as possible, so your final inspection with the landlord is straightforward.

Kitchens, appliances and air conditioners

Fridges travel upright and should rest for several hours before being switched on again. Washing machines need their drum secured. TVs go back in original boxes if you kept them, or in double wrapping with corner guards if not.

For kitchens you own, we dismantle units in order, number them and protect stone worktops in transit. Defrost and dry the fridge the day before, and disconnect gas cookers only through a qualified person if a gas line is involved.

Closed dyna trucks and choosing the right size

We use closed dyna trucks, which keep furniture out of the sun and away from the dust that blows off construction sites on the edges of the district. Truck size depends on the number of rooms and boxes, and a large family flat may need two trips or two trucks working together.

For more on truck sizes and when a single trip is enough, see our page on dyna truck moving in Al Salhiya, which is about the truck itself, while this page covers the work inside your flat and building.

What shapes your apartment moving quote

We do not publish fixed prices because every flat is different. The factors behind your quote are clear, though, and you can judge most of them yourself:

One-week checklist for apartment residents

  • Confirm lift booking with the guard at both buildings.
  • Share map pins for both building entrances.
  • List what is yours versus the landlord's.
  • Empty and defrost the fridge the day before.
  • Keep passports, iqamas, jewellery and medicines in a bag that stays with you.
  • Measure doorways at the new flat if you own an oversized piece.
  • Photograph the empty flat for your hand-over.
  • Arrange truck parking and let neighbours know.

This list is tailored to flats. For a longer countdown, our site also has a step-by-step moving preparation guide covering several weeks.

Moving with children and pets

Moving day in a busy building is hectic, and small children or pets can easily slip out of an open door while furniture goes in and out. If possible, arrange for kids to spend the day with friends, or set aside one room that we pack last and keep closed.

At the new flat we set up children's beds first, so bedtime that evening feels normal. Pets do best in a quiet room with water and their own bedding until the crew has left.

Ask for a written quote listing packing, dismantling and assembly.

Scenario: staying within Al Salhiya

Picture a couple moving from a two-bedroom flat with a lift to a larger flat in a new building a few streets away. Driving time is minimal, so the effort goes into dismantling, packing and protecting two lifts.

We would move and assemble bedrooms first, then the kitchen, then the living room and boxes. Because the distance is short, several quick runs with a mid-sized truck may work better than one large truck that cannot park in front of the new building.

Scenario: moving to another Jeddah district

When the new flat is outside the district, travel time and avoiding rush hour become part of the plan. We load the truck in reverse order of unloading and send the assembly crew along, so beds are not left in pieces on your first night.

For popular routes we have dedicated pages, such as moving from Al Salhiya to Al Rawdah, which explains how we organise a trip from the northern edge of the city to a more central district.

Written contract and commercial registration

Al Ostoura Moving operates under Commercial Registration 4030592817. You get a written quote and contract before moving day that lists exactly what is included: dismantling and assembly, packing, crane if needed and storage if requested. No surprise extras on the day.

Al Salhiya apartment moving: common questions

Not usually. Photos of each room, the kitchen, the lift and the building entrance are enough for a clear quote in most cases. We suggest a short visit only for very full flats or delicate items.
