Bedroom Furniture Disassembly and Assembly in Al Murjan, Jeddah
Need bedroom furniture assembly in Al Murjan, Jeddah? Our crew comes with a carpenter who takes apart beds, wardrobes, dressers and bunk beds, labels each panel, bags its screws under the same number, and rebuilds the room at your new address, levelling the frame, adjusting the doors and anchoring tall units to the wall. Who we usually help in Al Murjan
Al Murjan is a residential district in north Jeddah. Property portals such as Bayut and Aqar list a mix of duplex villas with rooftop annexes, furnished and unfurnished apartments, and studios, and some listings place it close to the Obhur South corniche and streets such as Mohammed Al Bendar Street. That mix shapes the bedroom jobs we see: a family emptying a two-floor villa, a professional leaving a furnished flat at the end of a lease, or a newcomer who has just bought flat-pack furniture and wants it built properly.
Each of these needs a slightly different plan. A villa master bedroom may involve a six-door wardrobe and a staircase; a furnished flat involves separating your pieces from the landlord's; a new purchase means assembly only, no takedown. Tell us which situation you are in and we will size the crew accordingly.
What gets taken apart and what travels whole
We do not dismantle things for the sake of it. Our rule is simple: anything that cannot pass safely through the doorway, staircase or lift is taken apart; anything small and solid is wrapped and carried as it is.
- Bed frames: separated into headboard, footboard, side rails and slats.
- Wardrobes: doors first, then shelves and drawers, then the carcass.
- Dressers: mirror always removed; the body usually stays in one piece.
- Bedside tables: emptied, drawers taped shut, moved whole.
- Upholstered headboards: unbolted from the base and covered in fabric then plastic.
Less unnecessary dismantling means fewer lost fittings and a faster rebuild at the other end.
The order we follow inside the room
The carpenter starts at the top with whatever is fragile or hanging: the mirror, high shelves, and any lights fixed to the headboard. Wardrobe doors come next because they are the heaviest and most easily scratched parts. Shelves and drawers follow, and the carcass is taken down last, top to bottom.
The bed comes after the wardrobe because it needs floor space around it. The mattress is lifted and bagged first, then slats are removed, then the side rails are released from the head and foot. Working in this order keeps the floor clear and stops heavy panels being stacked on pieces that are not yet protected.
Takedown to rebuild in five steps
The diagram shows the sequence we keep on every job. The middle step, numbering, is the one most people skip when they do it themselves, and it is the reason a professional rebuild takes a fraction of the time.
Send a photo of each wardrobe, doors open, and we will tell you whether it needs a full or partial takedown.
Why we number every panel and bag every screw
A six-door wardrobe can hold dozens of screws, cam locks, hinges and wooden dowels, many of which look the same but differ in length. Mix them up and the person rebuilding it starts guessing; a screw that is a few millimetres too long can punch straight through the face of a panel.
So each panel gets a number on low-tack tape that peels off cleanly, and its fittings go into a clear bag marked with the same number. All bags for one room go into a single box that stays with the crew supervisor, not in the back of the truck. In homes with several bedrooms, each box is named: master, kids, guest, annex.
Sliding versus hinged wardrobe doors
Sliding doors sit in a top and bottom track. They come out by lifting them up and swinging the bottom out of the track, and their small rollers must be protected because they snap if a door is rested on its edge. The track itself may need removing if the carcass is being split.
Hinged doors are quicker to remove but trickier to set up again. We photograph the hinge positions before unscrewing them, since each hinge has adjustment screws for depth, height and tilt. Returning them to their old settings is what gives you doors that close in a straight line with even gaps. In both cases, doors are wrapped individually and travel upright.
Leaving a furnished flat: protecting your deposit
Many expats in north Jeddah rent furnished, then add a few pieces of their own: a better mattress, a second wardrobe, a child's bed. When the lease ends, the two most common disputes are a landlord's piece taken by mistake, or holes and scuffs left where your wardrobe was fixed to the wall.
Before we start, we ask for a short list of what belongs to you and put a coloured sticker on each item. Anything without a sticker is not touched. If your wardrobe was anchored to the wall, we remove the brackets carefully and show you the fixing holes so you can decide whether to fill them before the handover inspection. A few minutes of this saves arguments later.
Just bought new flat-pack furniture? Assembly only
Not every request involves a move. Newcomers often furnish an Al Murjan apartment from scratch and end up with a stack of flat-pack boxes. We can send a carpenter for assembly only, building the bed, wardrobe and dresser from the manufacturer's instructions and checking that every fitting is present before work begins.
If a part is missing or damaged in the box, we tell you straight away so you can contact the store rather than discovering the gap halfway through. We also take the packaging away from the room so the space is usable the same evening, though disposal of large cardboard volumes should be agreed in the quote.
IKEA PAX and other particleboard systems
Particleboard wardrobes such as the IKEA PAX range are light, but the material around screw holes weakens each time a cam lock is forced. A wardrobe that has been moved twice already may need fresh dowels or slightly repositioned fittings to stay rigid.
We use hand tools rather than a drill on high speed, replace crushed dowels instead of reusing them, and roll thin back panels together so they do not crease. For a closer look at these systems and how their connectors work, see our page on IKEA PAX wardrobe disassembly without damage, which goes deeper than this district page.
Bunk beds, cots and children's rooms
A child's room is usually the busiest in the house: a bunk bed with ladder and guard rail, a small desk, toy storage and perhaps a folding cot. Bunk beds come apart in the exact reverse of their build order, rail and ladder first, then the top bunk, then the posts and the lower bed.
On reassembly we treat this room as a safety check. Every bolt in the guard rail is tightened, the ladder is tested by hand, and tall beds are fixed to the wall where the wall type allows. The supervisor puts weight on the frame before signing the room off, because a rough visual check is not enough where children sleep.
Mattresses and adjustable beds
Mattresses are not dismantled, but they get dirty faster than anything else in a move because they are big and brush against floors and walls. Each one goes into a sealed mattress bag and is carried on its side, never folded, since bending a pocket-spring mattress weakens it.
Electric or adjustable bases need extra care: we disconnect the power, lock the moving sections flat and wrap the motor and cables separately. If you still have the manufacturer's manual, keep it in your own bag rather than a packed box so the carpenter can check any unusual fixings on arrival.
Coastal humidity and bedroom woodwork
Al Murjan sits near the Jeddah coast, and the city is humid for much of the year. Particleboard and veneered panels absorb moisture through any exposed edge, and the edges around screw holes are exactly what a takedown exposes.
We manage this by keeping dismantled panels indoors rather than on an open pavement, wrapping raw edges in plastic as soon as they come apart, and aiming to dismantle and rebuild on the same day where the new home is ready. If we find a panel already swollen at its fixings, we show you before touching it and suggest a fix, such as an extra bracket, rather than forcing it.
Moving out of a furnished flat? List the pieces that are yours and we will only touch those.
Mirrors, dressers and glass-front wardrobes
Mirrors are the most breakable item in any bedroom, and they are often large and fixed to a dresser or wardrobe door. We detach them first, fit cardboard corner guards, wrap them in bubble film and a rigid board, and mark them as glass with an arrow for the upright side.
In the truck, mirrors stand vertically between two soft items such as mattresses and nothing is placed on top. Mirrored or glass wardrobe doors get the same treatment, one door per wrap.
Bedroom types and what each one needs
| Room | Usually dismantled | Watch point | Tell us beforehand |
|---|---|---|---|
| Villa master bedroom | King bed, multi-door wardrobe, dresser | Heavy doors, internal stairs | Floor and stair width |
| Rooftop annex room | Bed and medium wardrobe | Narrow outdoor stairs | Access route to the annex |
| Children's room | Bunk bed, desk, storage | Guard rails, wall fixing | Wall type |
| Furnished flat or studio | Your own pieces only | Landlord's furniture untouched | List of your items |
| Flat-pack wardrobe | Whole unit | Fragile particleboard | Brand or photo of fittings |
This is not a price list. It is the checklist we go through with you so the written quote reflects the actual work.
Villa staircases, annexes and upper floors
In a two-storey Al Murjan villa with an annex, bedrooms are usually upstairs, so every panel travels down the internal staircase. A curved stair or a glass balustrade calls for tighter dismantling and protection for the balustrade itself, since one swing of a long side panel can crack glass or gouge timber.
We cover rails and wall corners with board before starting and put two people on every long panel. If a room sits in an annex reached by a narrow outdoor stair, we look at whether pieces can come down from a balcony instead. If you are moving the whole house rather than the bedrooms alone, our page on villa furniture moving in Al Murjan covers inventories and phased moves.
Rebuilding: measure first, level, then anchor
On arrival the carpenter does not open boxes straight away. He measures the wall where the wardrobe will stand, the ceiling height, and the position of switches, sockets and AC vents. A wardrobe that fitted the old room can easily cover a light switch in the new one, and it is better to find out before it is built.
Panels are then laid out by number, the carcass goes up first and is checked with a spirit level, because floors are rarely perfectly flat. Shelves and drawers follow, then doors and hinge adjustment, and finally the mirror and accessories. The bed is built last so it does not block movement around the room.
A tall, narrow wardrobe can tip forward when doors and drawers are open at the same time, or when a child climbs it. We fix tall units to the wall with anchors suited to the wall type, whether concrete, block or plasterboard.
We always ask first, because some landlords do not allow drilling. If that is the case, we explain the alternatives and the remaining risk honestly so you can decide. We also avoid drilling in the usual cable paths above and below switches and sockets.
Wrapping straight after takedown
A loose panel is more vulnerable than a built wardrobe because its edges and corners are now exposed. Wrapping therefore happens in the same room, immediately: moving blankets for large panels, cardboard corners for edges, bubble film for handles, and matching panels strapped together without tape touching their faces.
Metal handles are unscrewed and go into the panel's own bag so they cannot scratch neighbouring boards. If you would like the rest of the home packed too, our packing service in Al Murjan page explains which materials we use for each type of item.
Loading the closed dyna truck
Panels are loaded in reverse order of rebuild, so what goes up first comes off first. Long panels stand against the side of the box and are strapped; mattresses sit between mirrors; small boxes go at the bottom, never on top of flat panels.
We use closed dyna trucks that keep dust and sun off the furniture, which matters in the middle of a Jeddah day. To see how we choose the truck size and number of trips, read about our dyna truck moves in Al Murjan. Whether your new home is in the same district or elsewhere in Jeddah, the takedown method stays the same; only the length of the day changes.
What shapes your written quote
We do not publish a fixed bedroom price, because two rooms with the same label can involve very different work. The quote is built from factors we confirm with you from photos.
- Number of rooms and pieces to dismantle and rebuild.
- Wardrobe type: sliding, built-in and walk-in units take longer.
- Floor, stairs and lift availability at both addresses.
- Extra protection for mirrors and glass doors.
- How many units need wall anchoring.
- Whether the new home is in Al Murjan or another Jeddah district.
Before you arrive at moving day, every item and service is listed in writing, so there are no surprise extras.
Common DIY mistakes and how to book us
The mistakes we see most often are dismantling a wardrobe with its doors still on, so their weight wrenches the hinges out; throwing every screw into one bag; carrying a long panel from one end until it cracks; and rebuilding on an uneven floor so the doors never close flush. All of them are avoidable with a plan and the right tools.
To book, send photos of each bedroom and the wardrobe interiors on WhatsApp, with the floor, lift details and new address. Al Ostoura Moving operates under Commercial Registration 4030592817 and confirms every job in writing. See all our services in the district on movers in Al Murjan, the citywide bedroom moving and assembly in Jeddah service, our bedroom assembly in Al Asalah page for newer buildings further inland, and furniture disassembly and assembly in Jeddah for pieces beyond the bedroom.
