Movers from Al Asalah to Al Safa, Jeddah: Planning a North-to-Central Household Move
Moving from Al Asalah to Al Safa means leaving one of north Jeddah’s newer, still-growing districts for an established neighbourhood with busier side streets and older apartment blocks. Al Ostoura Moving plans the route, truck size, dismantling and unloading order for you, and sends a written quote listing every service before you commit, so your family can sleep in a set-up home on the first night.

Understanding the two districts before you book
Al Asalah sits in north Jeddah. Property guides place it next to districts such as Al Falah and Taibah, and roughly twelve kilometres from King Abdulaziz International Airport. It is a growth area: modern multi-storey villas, new apartment buildings and vacant plots where construction can start at any time.
Al Safa is also listed under north Jeddah, but it is a long-established residential area. Listings mention well-known streets inside it such as Prince Majed Street, Prince Mutaib Street and Al Zahawi Street. The buildings are older on average, side streets are narrower and parking is tighter.
For expat families this contrast matters more than the distance. A move that is easy to load in Al Asalah can become slow at the Al Safa end if nobody planned where the truck will stop or whether the lift fits a wardrobe.
Loading end vs unloading end at a glance
| Factor | Al Asalah (pickup) | Al Safa (drop-off) |
|---|---|---|
| Typical buildings | New villas, new apartment blocks, plots under construction | Established apartment buildings, villas, attached houses |
| Street access | Wider internal roads, but possible site works | Narrower side streets lined with parked cars |
| Lifts | Common in newer buildings | Vary widely; some small, some walk-ups |
| Main risk | Blocked frontage from building materials | Long carry distance if the truck parks far away |
These are general patterns, not rules for every street. That is why we ask for a photo of each building entrance and the street outside it before confirming your booking.
Which roads the truck is likely to take
The trip generally runs from the northern edge of the city southwards. It usually uses one of the main north–south corridors that link north Jeddah with the centre, such as the Haramain Road or Prince Majed Road, which itself passes through Al Safa.
We do not lock the route in advance. On the morning of the move the driver checks live traffic and road works, then picks the option with fewer sharp speed bumps and stop-start sections, because constant vibration is harder on glass tops and marble than distance is.
Everything happens inside Jeddah, so there are no inter-city arrangements, and a typical apartment can be moved in a single day when it is prepared properly.
The move in five stages
The diagram shows how the day flows. Survey and quote come first, then packing and loading in Al Asalah, the drive, and finally unloading and assembly in Al Safa.
Each stage has someone responsible, so loading does not start before packing is finished and the crew does not leave until the main rooms are assembled.
Send your Al Asalah location and Al Safa address on WhatsApp and we will suggest a route and truck size.
How far ahead to book
Book at least a week ahead if your date falls at the end of the month, around school holidays or near the end of a lease, when demand rises. On ordinary weekdays a slot can often be arranged within a few days, and same-day moves are sometimes possible subject to availability.
Extra time also lets you sort what is actually worth moving. Many families leaving larger villas in Al Asalah find that some furniture will not fit a flat in Al Safa, and deciding early avoids paying to move items twice.
If your employer is covering the move, ask them which documents they need. Our written quote and contract show the services, date and our commercial registration number 4030592817.
Choosing the right truck size
Because each extra trip between the north of the city and Al Safa costs time, we size the truck from your photos so the whole home moves in as few loads as possible. We ask about bedrooms, sofas, kitchen units, large appliances and any unusual item such as a tall built-in wardrobe or a marble dining table.
A studio or one-bedroom flat often fits in a single closed dyna. A multi-storey villa usually needs a larger truck or two consecutive trips. We would rather add a trip than stack furniture dangerously.
Our page on closed dyna moving trucks in Jeddah explains the options in more detail.
Dismantling in Al Asalah without losing parts
New villas often have large wardrobes, fitted kitchens and heavy majlis furniture. Our carpenter photographs each piece, then dismantles it and puts its screws and fittings in a labelled bag.
Colour tape marks which panels belong to which room, so the crew in Al Safa can carry parts straight to the right bedroom. This matters when the new flat is smaller and rooms change purpose.
- Photos of every wardrobe before dismantling.
- One labelled screw bag per item.
- Mirrors and glass doors wrapped separately.
- Legs and handles collected in one small box per room.
Packing that suits each item
Fabric sofas get clean plastic film and a thick blanket. Glossy wood gets bubble wrap under the blanket to prevent scratches. Appliance doors are secured with tape that leaves no residue.
Plates and glasses are wrapped one by one and packed upright, which survives road vibration better than stacking them flat. Pictures and mirrors get cardboard corner guards.
If you would rather hand over packing completely, see our home furniture packing service in Al Safa, which is also useful if you later need to repack items for storage.
How we load the truck
Heavy items go in first and lowest: fridge, washing machine and dismantled wardrobes against the front wall. Mattresses stand upright as buffers, then numbered boxes fill the space.
The last box loaded is your essentials box: kettle, chargers, bedding, toiletries and the assembly toolkit. It comes off first in Al Safa so you can make up a bed and a basic kitchen within the first hour.
Straps and blankets between pieces stop the load shifting at traffic lights and on tight turns into Al Safa side streets.
Access problems to expect in Al Asalah
Because Al Asalah is still expanding, the area outside your building may have scaffolding, piles of sand or blocks, a trench for utility lines, or a partly closed street. Tell us in advance and send a photo; we may park on the next street and use trolleys over a longer distance, or choose a time when site work pauses.
In some new buildings the lift is not fully commissioned, or the owner restricts it to certain hours. Please ask the building guard or landlord whether movers can use it and whether its walls need cardboard protection.
If the stairs are narrow or a piece will not pass through the door, we suggest the right fix before moving day: extra dismantling or lowering it from the balcony by crane. Our guide to moving furniture through a narrow balcony explains when each option makes sense.
Access problems to expect in Al Safa
At the Al Safa end the challenge is different. Side streets fill with residents’ cars, and some older buildings have narrow entrances and long staircases without a lift. If you can, reserve space in front of the entrance or ask neighbours to leave a gap for the unloading window.
If your new flat is on a high floor with a small lift, we dismantle large items in Al Asalah so they fit, and plan the stairs or a crane for sofas and mattresses that cannot bend. That decision is made before the move, not at the door.
Many Al Safa buildings house several families, so we protect shared corridors and stairs with cardboard and keep walkways clear for neighbours throughout the job.
Scenario: villa in Al Asalah to apartment in Al Safa
This is one of the most common versions of the move: a family trades a spacious villa for a smaller flat closer to schools, shops and relatives. The key question is not how to move everything but what to move at all.
Measure the new rooms and compare them with bed, wardrobe and sofa sizes. A six-door wardrobe that suited a villa bedroom may block a window in an apartment. We can assemble part of it and send the rest to storage, or you can sell it before the move.
If you are moving within Al Asalah instead, our page on apartment moving in Al Asalah covers that shorter job.
Is parking tight on your Al Safa street or is the building a walk-up? Tell us so we can plan unloading.
Scenario: apartment in Al Asalah to a villa floor in Al Safa
The reverse case happens too, often when families want to return to an established neighbourhood. You will have less furniture than space, and the tricky part is usually an upper floor or annex reached by an internal staircase.
We assemble rooms in order of use: master bedroom first, then children’s rooms, then the majlis. If you plan to buy new furniture later, we leave those spaces empty rather than filling them with temporary pieces.
Older buildings sometimes have lower door frames or ceilings, so tall wardrobes may need to be stood up at an angle or have their top section removed and refitted.
Checklist before leaving your Al Asalah home
- Photograph electricity and water meters and note final readings.
- Turn off gas and close the main water valves.
- Empty and secure all drawers and cupboards.
- Check the roof, annex, store room and garden, the places most often forgotten in villas.
- Collect keys, gate remotes and AC remotes.
- Return keys to the landlord and photograph the empty property.
- Keep a copy of the written quote on your phone to check items on arrival.
This list prevents the problem we hear most after long cross-city moves: something left behind, followed by a long drive back north from Al Safa to fetch it.
Give one adult the job of working through the list while another supervises loading.
Unloading and assembly in Al Safa
On arrival we protect the entrance and corridor with cardboard, then unload room by room as agreed. Having someone present who knows where each piece goes speeds things up enormously.
The carpenter assembles beds and wardrobes, adjusts doors and hinges and hangs mirrors on request. We remove large packing materials, then ask you to walk through every room and compare items with the list before you sign.
If you notice anything on a piece, record it with the crew straight away. Raising it at handover is far easier for everyone than days later.
Appliances and air conditioners
Fridges travel upright where possible and should rest for a few hours in Al Safa before being switched on. Washing machine drums are locked and hoses drained before disconnection.
If your Al Asalah villa has split AC units you want to take, they must be dismantled properly with the gas recovered, then refitted in Al Safa where existing pipework allows. This is a separate line on the quote if you request it.
TVs travel upright between mattresses in a protective cover or original box. Photograph cable connections before unplugging anything to make setup easier.
What affects the cost of this move

| Packing | Materials and labour | Pack books and clothes yourself |
| Crane | Needed when items cannot use the stairs | Measure doors and lift early |
| Parking distance | Longer carry from truck to door | Reserve space at the entrance |
We do not publish general prices because every home is different. Read about pricing factors in moving costs in Al Asalah, then send photos for a written quote.
Getting your written quote
Send us clear photos of every room, both locations on the map, the floor number at each end and whether there is a lift. Mention anything heavy or delicate, such as a piano, a marble table or a large chandelier.
We reply with a written quote listing transport, dismantling and assembly, packing, crew size, truck size and crane if needed. Once you accept, we sign a written contract with the date and scope.
If details change, for example an extra room or a different floor, we update the quote in writing before the job. Call 0566300558 or message us on WhatsApp.

Timing the day
We prefer to start loading in Al Asalah in the morning so unloading in Al Safa finishes before the evening rush. Jeddah heat matters too: early work is easier on the crew and safer for heat-sensitive items such as candles, medicines and some electronics.
Where possible we avoid school pick-up times and the end of office hours, when residential side streets fill up. Congestion varies street by street, so we ask you, as a resident, when your street is quiet.
If you must move in the evening or on a specific day, tell us early so we can arrange the crew and equipment. Flexibility is possible with planning.
Ask for a written quote listing every service before you confirm the date.
