Movers from Al Zahra to Al Rawdah, Jeddah
Moving from Al Zahra to Al Rawdah is a short hop within north Jeddah, but a short move still needs a plan. We organise it the way local moves work best: either shuttle trips or one large truck, bedrooms rebuilt first, and everything finished in a single day wherever possible.
Al Zahra to Al Rawdah · short local move in north Jeddah · same-day assembly

Why a short local move needs its own plan
Al Zahra and Al Rawdah are residential districts in north Jeddah, and the drive between them is short compared with moving to the city's outskirts. That tempts people to move in bits with private cars or casual labour, and the move stretches over days with belongings split between two homes.
A short distance is an advantage when it is used properly: the truck can turn round quickly for another trip, assembly can start in Al Rawdah while packing continues in Al Zahra, and the family sleeps in the new home the same night.
Two ways to run the move
| Method | Best when | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Shuttle trips with a dyna or mid-size truck | A narrow street at either end, or a home that takes long to pack | Assembly starts early; no big truck blocking the street for hours |
| One large truck | Home already packed, good parking at both entrances | One load, one unload, simple supervision |
| A mix of both | Villas and large homes | Big truck for furniture, dyna for cartons and last items |
We choose after seeing photos and both streets, and state it in the quote.
Trip order by priority
- Trip one: dismantled, labelled bedrooms and mattresses, since they take longest to rebuild.
- Trip two: kitchen and big appliances, so the fridge runs and the kitchen works by evening.
- Trip three: living room, sofas and dining table.
- Final trip: storeroom, balcony and loose items, plus a last walk through the old home.

Timing between the two districts
Even over a short distance, traffic between north Jeddah districts runs along main streets that clog at morning and evening rush hour, such as Prince Sultan Street and the roads off it. With shuttle trips, every trip is exposed to traffic, so we start early and fit as many trips as possible before midday. We also avoid loading at school pick-up time if either home is close to a school, as side streets fill up.
Loading in Al Zahra
Homes in Al Zahra range from multi-storey apartment buildings to villas and independent floors. In buildings we check lift size and whether the truck can stop at the entrance, and we pad the lift and corridors. In villas we look at the garden path and internal stairs and protect marble floors from dolly wheels. If the street is narrow, we stage wrapped items at the entrance first, then call the truck in to load fast and leave.
Unloading in Al Rawdah
Al Rawdah also mixes apartment buildings and villas, and some of its streets carry commercial traffic. We ask about the new entrance in advance: building with a lift or villa, where the truck can park, and whether the caretaker or management needs notice. Room names go on the doors in Al Rawdah before the first trip arrives, so every carton goes straight to its room.
Two teams at once
A big advantage of a short move is splitting the crew. One part stays in Al Zahra finishing packing and disassembly, the other travels with the first load and starts rebuilding beds and wardrobes immediately. That saves hours and makes the new home liveable before the last carton arrives. The supervisor oversees both ends and calls you for decisions such as where a wardrobe goes or which wall can take a TV mount.
Can the move run over two days?
Yes, and it sometimes suits better, especially if your old lease runs for a few more days. Day one: bedrooms and kitchen moved and set up, so the family sleeps in Al Rawdah. Day two: living room, storeroom and the rest, at a calmer pace. It is not always cheaper, though, since the crew and truck are booked twice. Your quote shows both options.

Do we skip packing because it is close?
No. Scratches and breakages rarely happen on the road; most happen on stairs, during loading and unloading, and in lifts. Furniture, glass and screens get the same protection whether the drive is ten minutes or an hour. What we sometimes simplify is wrapping for soft, unbreakable items such as pillows and blankets, which can travel in large bags.
The day step by step
- Crew arrives in Al Zahra and protects entrances.
- Fragile items packed and bedrooms dismantled.
- First load leaves for Al Rawdah with part of the crew.
- Assembly begins in Al Rawdah while work continues in Al Zahra.
- Kitchen, then living room, then loose items.
- Final check of the old home.
- Assembly completed and new home handed over.
Protecting belongings between trips
With shuttle trips, some wrapped items wait at an entrance for the next run. We do not leave valuables or electronics unattended in shared building lobbies; they stay inside the flat until loading, and a crew member stays with items staged at the door. On hot days we keep wooden and leather furniture out of direct sun outside the building, because heat can affect glue and leather.
Keys and timing at both homes
On short local moves, handing back the old home and collecting the new keys often fall on the same day. We suggest collecting the Al Rawdah keys at least a day early and agreeing a handover time for the old home hours after the move ends, not minutes. If either building has a caretaker, tell them the date and how many trips to expect.
What drives the cost
- Volume and the number of items to dismantle.
- Floor level and lifts at both homes.
- Shuttle trips or one truck.
- Packing level.
- One day or two.
- Extras such as AC removal or curtain fitting.
A short distance cuts road time but not the other factors, so prices still vary between homes on the same route.

Common mistakes on short moves
- Ferrying items by car for days and finding half the home still in place.
- Leaving beds until last, so the family has nowhere to sleep.
- Skipping protection because "it is close".
- Starting before the new keys are confirmed.
- Handing back the old keys before checking the storeroom.
If Al Rawdah is a temporary stop
Sometimes the move to Al Rawdah is temporary, for example a furnished flat while another home is being finished. In that case we move only what you need day to day and store the rest wrapped and labelled, so the temporary flat is not crowded and nothing needs moving twice.
Appliances and air conditioners
Split AC units moving from Al Zahra to Al Rawdah need a technician to pump down the refrigerant, disconnect, and reconnect after installation. We schedule removal before or at the start of the move and reinstallation after furniture is in place. Automatic washers need the drum secured, and fridges are best emptied a day ahead and left standing for a while after reconnection before switching on.
Crew and trucks
A two-bedroom ground-floor flat may need one dyna doing two trips and a small crew; a villa or large upper-floor flat without a lift needs a bigger crew and a large truck or an extra dyna. We base this on large items, cartons and stairs at both ends, and write it in the quote.
What you carry yourself
Because the distance is short, many customers take valuables and key documents themselves before or during the move: jewellery, papers, medicines, laptops and the children's favourite toys. That gives peace of mind and keeps these things with you from the first minute in the new home.
Handing back the Al Zahra home
After the last trip we walk through the old home with you: storeroom, wardrobe tops, balcony and roof if there is one. Photograph the empty home and note meter readings before handing back the keys, especially if it is rented. If you need a day to clean before handover, the short distance makes coming back easy.
First night in Al Rawdah
Our aim is beds assembled, mattresses in place, fridge connected and the first-night box open before we leave. Everything else can be unpacked calmly over the following days. Label the first-night box clearly so it goes on the first trip and does not get lost among the others.
