Enclosed dyna moving truck parked outside a new apartment building in Al Hamdaniyah, north Jeddah

A growing district and what it means for your dyna

Al Hamdaniyah is one of north Jeddah's fastest-growing districts, with new apartment buildings, family villas and plots still under construction. That shapes how a move works. Many families are moving into brand-new flats here for the first time, and some internal streets are new or run beside building sites.

So before we book a truck we ask for the exact address, whether the street is paved right up to the entrance, and whether building materials or machinery block part of the road. A dyna needs a stable spot close to the door; parking far away means longer hand carries, more fatigue and extra time.

We also send the new building's location pin to the driver the day before, because newer buildings are not always easy to find by number on maps.

Enclosed or open dyna, and which size

Jeddah's moving market uses two main dyna types: enclosed trucks with a box body that protects furniture from dust, sun and rain, and open trucks where the load is covered with tarpaulin and ropes. For household furniture we prefer enclosed dynas, especially in summer heat and in dusty areas near construction.

Size-wise, a small dyna suits one room or a few items, a medium dyna usually carries a two- or three-bedroom flat with average furniture, and larger homes need two dynas or a bigger truck. The deciding factor is the size of your items and the number of cartons, not the bedroom count.

To work it out yourself, see how to estimate furniture volume before booking a dyna.

Send photos of your furniture and your Al Hamdaniyah address on WhatsApp and we will suggest the right dyna and crew.

Dyna with a crew or driver only?

Some customers book a driver-only dyna and load it themselves with family. That can work for a few light items, but with real furniture it often goes wrong: poor load order, unwrapped pieces, and back injuries from carrying fridges and wardrobes down stairs.

A dyna with our crew means people who know how to carry each piece, place it so it cannot shift and strap it in. Dismantling, reassembly and packing can be added as needed.

How we load a dyna

  1. Heavy, flat items at the front of the box: fridge, washer, wardrobe panels, mattresses on edge.
  2. Sofas and tables in the middle, with blankets between every piece.
  3. Heavy cartons at the bottom, lighter ones above, fragile items on top and away from the doors.
  4. Each tier strapped to the box walls.
  5. Whatever you need first goes on last so it comes off first.

This stops the load shifting over speed bumps and roundabouts, prevents rubbing, and speeds up unloading because everything is where we expect it.

Short runs inside Al Hamdaniyah and longer trips out

Within Al Hamdaniyah distances are fairly short and the real challenge is parking and stairs rather than the road. Moving out of the district to central or southern Jeddah makes distance and traffic matter, because journeys from the north of the city can take noticeably longer at peak times.

In those cases we schedule departure before rush hour where possible and include drive time in the job length. For big loads over longer distances, two dynas at once can work out better than one truck doing two trips.

Small jobs: one room or a few items

Not every move needs a big truck. Many dyna requests in Al Hamdaniyah are for a bedroom set going to a son's new flat, a new sofa from a showroom, or appliances to a rental. For these we send a small or medium dyna with one or two movers, priced on the actual work.

Send a photo of the items, both addresses and the floor at each end. A large item such as a six-door wardrobe may need dismantling before loading, and that is listed in the quote so there are no surprises.

Dust and heat: protecting furniture in the truck

Construction nearby means dust, and in summer a dyna box gets very hot if it stands in the sun. We wrap sofas and mattresses in plastic before loading, close the box between loads, and avoid leaving a loaded truck parked in direct sun longer than necessary.

Electronics, candles, medicines and cosmetics should not ride in the box in hot weather; take them in your car. Leather and fine wood get thick blankets to reduce heat transfer.

What sets the price of a dyna move

  • Dyna size and number of trips or trucks.
  • Crew size and hours.
  • Floors and lifts at both ends.
  • Dismantling, assembly and packing if requested.
  • Distance and time of day.

We do not quote a fixed trip price because these change from job to job. Send the details for a written quote, and see flat-rate versus per-truck pricing to understand the options.

New buildings: lifts and handover

Lifts in new buildings are newer but not always bigger. Some landlords ban heavy furniture in the lift or require it to be padded. Ask the landlord or watchman before moving day and tell us, so we can plan for the stairs if needed.

If you have just taken over the new flat, make sure electricity and water are connected before moving day; fridges and appliances need power. It also helps to clean away fit-out dust before furniture goes in.

Common dyna booking mistakes

  • Booking a dyna that is too small to save money, then needing an extra trip.
  • Not mentioning the floor or the lack of a lift, so too few movers turn up.
  • Moving unwrapped furniture on an open truck.
  • Leaving drawers full so they break or slide open.
  • Not preparing the fridge and washer in advance.

Avoiding these saves more than a cheaper truck ever will.

Extras you can add

A dyna moves furniture, but most customers need something else too: bedroom and wardrobe dismantling and assembly, packing of fragile items, AC removal and refitting by a technician, or short-term storage until the new flat is ready. Pick only what you need; each item appears on the quote.

Getting ready before the dyna arrives

The more ready you are, the shorter and cheaper the job. Two days before, pack small items into taped cartons labelled with the room and contents. Empty heavy items out of drawers and bag loose screws.

Unplug and dry the fridge the day before, drain the washer, and either take wall-mounted TVs down or leave them for the crew. Keep anything not moving in one room or clearly marked, and keep the route from your door to the street clear on the day.

When two dynas at once make sense

Two trucks at the same time is not a luxury if you must hand back the old flat the same day, or if the new address is far enough that a second trip would run late. A bigger crew with two dynas finishes in daylight instead of dragging into the night.

For short moves within Al Hamdaniyah with average furniture, one dyna doing two trips is usually enough. We base the recommendation on volume, distance and your deadline, and explain it in the quote.
